The simple interest on a certain sum of money for 2.5 years at 12% per aannum = pnr = 12 × 2.5 × x the simple interest on the same sum for 3.5 years at 10% per annum = pnr = 1 × 3.5 × x
So, 12 × 2.5 × x + 40 = 1 × 3.5 × x
0.3x + 40 = 0.35 x
o.35 x - 0.3x = 40
o.o5x = 40
x = 800
